What are the main causes of asthma?
The exact cause of asthma is unknown, and the causes may be different from person to person. However, asthma often happens when the immune system strongly reacts to a substance in the lungs. Normally, the body’s immune system helps fight infections. But it may also respond to other things you breathe in, such as pollen or mold.
What triggers asthma attacks?
Asthma symptoms can be triggered by different things for different people. Allergens, like dust or animal/pet dander, are common triggers. Some people also develop asthma symptoms in response to exercise, stress, or cold air.
Can exercise trigger asthma?
Exercise (although people with well-controlled asthma can exercise) Viral respiratory infections, including the flu, are the leading cause of acute asthma attacks. Some people with heartburn have asthma symptoms when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus.
